Transitional Thresholds
- Project Description
A study by the Singapore Food Agency noted that ‘90% of food is imported and about 10% is
locally produced’
So how might we ensure a food resilient future by encouraging more locally grown food by
educating users on the importance of sustainable food production and consumption practices?
Transitional Thresholds challenges the status quo on how underutilised spaces in Singapore
can accommodate responsible consumption and production practices while addressing site
constraints.
In this project, I aim to preserve the grandeur of the terminal building while reinforcing a sense
of identity and ownership to Old Kallang as a historic aviation site, while educating users on the
importance of sustainable food practices.
The concept of this project explores the theme of ‘arrival’ and ‘departure’, a driving force for the
user experience interwoven with the movement of the circular economy highlighted through
interior programs.
