Retire and Rewire is a community space designed for retired lawyers to continue engaging in meaningful social and intellectual exchange. Rooted in the belief that learning and connection should not end with retirement, the project fosters a culture of lifelong learning through shared experiences and dialogue.

Located on one of Singapore’s earliest HDB sites—once part of the historic KTM railway line linking Singapore and Malaysia—the design pays homage to the site’s layered history. Bricks from the existing structure are reused to preserve material memory and reduce environmental impact.

An open-concept layout integrates seamlessly with the surrounding greenery, encouraging casual interactions and promoting mental well-being. Strategic voids within the building enhance cross-level visibility and engagement, while a dynamic, angular form redefines how users perceive and move through the space, offering new visual and spatial experiences.

This proposal champions ageing with dignity, connection, and purpose—rewiring retirement through architecture.
